Carey’s famous arrival in Japan was overwhelming for Carey. According to music historians, the Mariah mania experienced in Japan paralleled to the Beatle-mania from the 60s.

Mariah first shows in Japan at Tokyo's 50,000-seat Tokyo Dome sold out in less than half an hour, breaking an attendance record previously set by the Rolling Stones. Since the Daydream World Tour, Japan has become a must in every Mariah Carey tour, a feat rarely achieved by any International artist.
