RAINBOW WORLD TOURIn early 2000, Mariah officially announced Mariah Carey’s Rainbow Tour: One Night Only in Beverly Hills, California. The tour was set to be Carey’s largest tour at that point, 19 shows in Europe, Asia and America, having a single stop at some of the world’s most prestigious arenas; this time, Mariah planned to return with an American leg after seven years. The Rainbow Tour kicked off in Antwerp, Belgium on February 14th, Valentine's Day.
Mariah’s confidence onstage was evident. Now, besides basing much of the shows’ strength on her voice and the hits, Mariah also relied on a fun show. The tour was hosted by Mariah’s “evil twin” Bianca. The shows also consisted of on-stage skits and acting, and even a boxing fight with Bianca, alluding to the “Heartbreaker (Remix)” music video. Again, Mariah gathered many of her iconic songs every night, opening with “Emotions” and encoring with “Vision of Love” and “Hero.” Mariah closed every show with “Honey,” wearing a sailor outfit and showing some subtle moves. Confetti fell down into the arenas as Mariah exited the stage singing the refrain from “Butterfly.”
